Sikkim University – Research Associate cum Field Asst, Office Asst & Other

Sikkim University: invites applications from Indian citizens for the posts of Research Associate cum Field Asst, Office Asst, Resource Person on contract/temporary basis for its project on SIKKIM’S ENDANGERED LANGUAGE DOCUMENTATION PROJECT (SELDP) funded by the NORTH EASTERN COUNCIL (NEC). The duration of the posts is for 12 months, to be renewed every 12 months on the basis of performance. The posts are co-terminus with the project and the University shall have no liability towards the incumbents in the event of the NEC closing down the project at any time. Master’s degree level in Computer Science/ Applications from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. Research experience in language documentation and archival system. Able to conduct fieldwork with communities in Sikkim and speak Nepali/Hindi.
Desirable:
A Ph.D Degree in Computer
Science/Applications with
specialisation in natural
language data processing.
03OFFICE ASSISTANT
CUM DOCUMENTATI ON OFFICER
01Essential:
Good academic record with at least 45% marks of equivalent grade where grading system is practised at the Bachelor’s degree level in Library Science or Commerce from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
Desirable:
Able to conduct linguistic and/or audio-video data collection through fieldwork with communities in Sikkim.
04NATIVE SPEAKERRESOURCE PERSONS02Essential:
Mother tongue speaker or New
Speaker of the concerned
language or person fluent in one
of the endangered languages of
Sikkim or researcher on the
concerned endangered language.
Able to work on computer
related processes of language
documentation.
Desirable:
To transcribe linguistic data.
Be able to carry out other
responsibilities as assigned by
the Projector Investigator.
